TWAS is an autonomous international organization founded in Trieste, Italy, in 1983.TWAS in collaboration with Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) offers fellowships to young scientists from developing countries for pursuing postdoctoral research in a field of natural sciences and technology in India. TWAS-CSIR Postdoctoral Fellowships are available at any CSIR research laboratories and institutes in India.

The Fellowship is for or a minimum period of six months to a maximum of 12 months‚ and provides:
CSIR will provide a monthly stipend to cover for living costs, food and health insurance. The monthly stipend will not be convertible into foreign currency. In addition, Fellowship awardees are entitled to subsidized accommodation.
The candidates should :
- Be nationals of a developing country (other than India).
- Be regularly employed in a developing country and hold a research assignment.
- Must not hold any visa for temporary or permanent residency in India or any developed country.
- PhD degree in a field of science or technology
Age limit: Maximum age of 45 years on 31 December of the application year
The language of instruction for foreign scholars in CSIR laboratories/institutes is English so they should submit the evidence of proficiency in English.
