Selection of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad as the Coordinating University for Ecology and Climate Change within the BRICS Universities Network

Following an assessment of scientific and research capabilities in the field of environment, the BRICS Universities Network selected Ferdowsi University of Mashhad as the coordinating university for the international working group on "Ecology and Climate Change."

According to the Public Relations Department of the International Scientific Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Science, following interactions and follow‑ups carried out by the Office of International Scientific Cooperation and with the participation of the Department of Geography, the BRICS Universities Network introduced Ferdowsi University of Mashhad as the coordinating university in the field of Ecology and Climate Change within the relevant international working group.

This selection was made based on the evaluation of scientific and research activities in areas related to environmental studies, ecology, and remote sensing. In recent years, the Department of Geography and related research fields have conducted activities in the study of climate change, environmental data analysis, and the application of remote sensing technologies, which were taken into consideration during this process.

The BRICS Universities Network provides a platform for scientific collaboration among universities from the member countries of this group. The activities of its specialized working groups are pursued with the aim of developing joint research, scientific exchange, and expanding academic cooperation in various scientific fields. The selection of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad as the coordinator for this field can pave the way for further scientific interactions with member universities of the network on topics related to ecology and climate change.
