Culture is the distinguishing feature between human beings and at the same time the common denominator of humanity. Ethnic, racial, geographical, political, and linguistic differences can be a factor in distinguishing nations. Communities and nations interact and communicate with other nations through their cultural and human and cultural commonalities, and science is the common language between human beings and the criterion of enlightenment. Science is a world-wide utopia which removes all political and geographical boundaries and goes beyond class, racial, religious and linguistic differences. The sovereignty of science is a universal one and a it is symbol of the realization of true freedom and democracy in the world. and the university holds the flag of science. We believe that science is the heritage of all humanity over the centuries, and universities belong to all the people around the world

This is a university and its doors are open to all people of the world. Ferdowsi University of Mashhad with 70 years of experience, is not only proud of its outstanding scientists and professors, but also of its high academic achievements and international prestige. Having an international university in an international city, which was selected as the cultural capital of the Islamic world in 2017, provides the opportunity for cultural interactions between different communities and nations of the world. All 25,000 members of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and I, as a large family including professors, students and staff, are proud to share the joy of studying and researching at this beautiful university with more than 2,000 students from 30 nationalities in 2020.

The presence of international students at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad is very valuable for us and we strive for the satisfaction, happiness and peace of these students. We believe that the international students of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad are representatives of their country and they will take the message of friendship, brotherhood and equality of the Iranian people and also the original Iranian culture to the people of their country as well as representing FUM in their home countries.

I need to remind you that Asia, and this part thereof called the Middle East and Central Asia, has had a significant role in the history and culture of humanity. Once, Great Khorasan, parts of which are now widespread in various neighboring countries, was the crossroad of economic, cultural, and scientific exchanges. Perhaps now is the right time to revive that deep and extensive relationship and the region's scientific and historical role in the international societies. In this region of the world, there are often the main resources and infrastructure for development, while it is now considered one of the least developed regions in the world. If we trust the youths in this region, who are now young students and scholars and build friendships between them, they can ensure the development and prosperity of the region in the future 

We hope that peace, justice, development and progress will be achieved around the world one day.
