 The tenth meeting of deputies and directors of International Academic and Scientific Relations of Taftash was held on Tuesday dated April 13, 2021 at 12:00 virtually, focusing on the subject of "reviewing Taftash programs in 2021 and the report of Dr. Ghabool's visit to Iraq." In this meeting, Dr. Ghabool; Director of International Academic and Scientific Relations and International Student Affairs of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and Secretary of Taftash, presented a report on his visit to Iraq and the agreements reached with Cultural Advisory Board of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baghdad regarding the 5th International Conference on Persian and Arabic Comparative Literature and also holding academic and research exhibition of Taftash in Iraq. Aftar that, Dr. Sarrafzadeh; Vice President for International Affairs of the University of Tehran stated that while emphasizing the importance of recognition of Taftash as an association, the faculty members of the member universities and the executive bodies of the universities must be informed of Taftash programs so that all departments become more involved in international programs of Taftash and benefit from its capacities. Dr. Shojaei; Director of International Academic Relations of the University of Tabriz, also emphasized the relation of Taftash universities with Iraqi universities regarding holding joint academic and research courses; and active relations with the Iraqi Scientific Advisory Board in Tehran and provided suggestions in this regard. Dr. Tayebi; Advisor to the President of the University of Isfahan on International Affairs, also stated the need for cooperation and participation of Taftash member universities in joint conferences and webinars, readiness of the University of Isfahan to expand Taftash relations with ECO; and emphasized the need to clarify the capacities of Iran-China 25-year agreement in the area of universities. Dr. Khaghaninejad; Director of International Academic Relations of Shiraz University, stated some of the problems of consular affairs and the need to amend the laws on consular affairs enacted in the previous years. He called Taftash for taking the necessary measures to improve the consular processing, especially in the area of receiving fees. Also, according to the previous division of labor, it was approved that the University of Tehran focus on the areas of China and Europe; Ferdowsi University of Mashhad on the areas of Iraq, Lebanon and Syria; Tabriz University, on the areas of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Iraqi Kurdistan; Isfahan University on the areas of Pakistan and South Korea; and Shiraz University on the areas of Arab countries of the Persian Gulf, and take the necessary action to expand international scientific relations of Taftash, especially in attracting international students. Following the meeting, Dr. Ghabool presented a report on the establishment of an integrated system for attracting international Taftash students; and it was decided to give this system a final review in the presence of relevant authorities in the following meeting.

Announcement

 Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (FUM) in a collaboration with International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) offers 2+1 years funded Master positions in Physics. This program is supported by Physics Without Frontiers (PWF) in ICTP and provides Master scholarships for students from Afghanistan. Qualified candidates, especially women, are encouraged to apply.

  The Program’s Timeline:

The master program is 2+1 years and the students are expected to work full-time. The first three semesters will be coursework, and the rest will be focused on research. All students must submit a dissertation to the university based on their Master’s thesis to receive an MSc degree. The courses for each student depend on the student’s field. The deadline for applications is 2022/01/05 and the program is planned to start from the winter semester, February 2022.

 Fields of study:

Each student will work in one the following fields: "Astrophysics, Gravitation and Cosmology", "Particle Physics and String Theory" or "Quantum Information".

 

 

Funds and support:

According to the agreement, FUM waives the tuition fee for the successful applicants of the PWF program. Also, FUM guarantees to provide food and dormitory rooms (at a very low price) to the accepted students. In addition, the PWF students will have access to The Information Center and Central Library, Health Center, Sport Complexes etc., similar to other FUM students. Moreover, the PWF students could use the faculty of science's Sci-cluster for their computations. PWF supports the living expenses in Mashhad.

 Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in Physics which should be signed by the Afganistan's government.

2. Bachelor's Transcript (copy of applicant's academic record).

3. CV, including the applicant's study background, examinations, jobs, responsibilities, etc.

4. Two letters of recommendation.
